SEO for gardeners and landscapers

I’ve done SEO for gardening and landscaping firms. Some customers want their lawn cut every fortnight, others want a whole new garden. Both search differently. I help you get found for the mix of regular and project work you want.

Why good gardeners get missed on Google

Most gardening firms get work by word of mouth and a van with a phone number on it. That’s great until you want to grow, or until a quiet patch hits. Then you find the people searching online are booking someone else.

Homeowners searching for a gardener want to see real work. Photos of gardens you’ve looked after or built, a clear list of what you do and the areas you cover. A single page with a few stock photos doesn’t give them, or Google, enough to go on.

The firms that do well online show off their projects, have a page for each service and target the streets close to where they already work, so new jobs fit neatly into the week.

The searches worth chasing

“Gardener near me” and “garden maintenance” bring regular round work. “Landscaping Wirral”, “patio installation”, “artificial grass fitting” and “garden design” bring bigger projects. “Hedge cutting” and “garden clearance” fill the gaps.

Gardening work is seasonal and local, so a strong Google Maps listing and pages for the towns you cover do a lot of the work. Before and after photos and short clips sell the job, which I cover in local video SEO. If you want to fill spring quickly, the benefits of PPC explains when ads pay off.

What I do for gardeners

Regular rounds and bigger projects.

1

Service pages

Maintenance, hedge cutting, turfing, patios and full landscaping, each with a page.

2

Project gallery

Before and after photos of real gardens. They sell landscaping better than words.

3

Round building

Pages aimed at the streets and towns where you want regular customers.

4

Google listing

Job photos every week, the right service areas and steady reviews so you stand out in the map.

5

Commercial grounds

Pages for housing associations, offices and schools if you want contract work.

6

Quote requests

A simple form where people can send photos of their garden, so you can price quickly.

Have used Peter/[hiPete] for years now across my businesses and always delighted with the results, no nonsense talk and structured action plan. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to get your business visible on the Internet.

Tight rounds pay best

Driving across town between jobs eats your profit. I target the areas close to where you already work, so new customers slot neatly into your existing rounds.

For bigger landscaping jobs you can afford to travel further, so those pages can cover a wider area.

Gardening SEO questions

Tap a question to open it.

How much does SEO cost for a gardening company?

£125 a week, which is about £18 a day. That covers your SEO, Google listing, AI visibility and looking after your website.

Should I focus on maintenance or landscaping?

Whichever you prefer. Maintenance gives steady income and landscaping gives bigger jobs. Your pages should lean towards the work you want.

Do commercial grounds contracts need different pages?

Yes. Housing associations and businesses want different reassurance from homeowners.

When should I start SEO?

Ideally in autumn or winter, so you’re ranking before the spring rush. Starting any time still helps.

Should I show prices?

For regular maintenance, a guide price helps. For landscaping, most people expect a quote, so make that easy to ask for.

Do I need a page for every service?

For the main ones, yes. Someone searching for artificial grass wants to see your artificial grass work.

How do I get more reviews?

Ask when a project is finished or after a few months of regular visits, with a simple link. I’ll set that up.

How long before I see more enquiries?

Listing fixes can help within weeks. Landscaping searches usually take a few months to rank well.

Can you work on my existing website?

Usually. If it’s on WordPress I can make the changes myself. If not, I’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth fixing or rebuilding.

What do you need from me to get started?

Your website, where you work and access to your Google listing. WhatsApp is the easiest way to start.
