Hotels and guest housesI’ve done SEO for hotels. Every booking that comes through a booking site costs you commission. Every guest who books direct keeps that money in your pocket. My job is to get more people finding you on Google and booking on your own website.
Search for a hotel in Liverpool and the first things you see are usually booking sites. They spend a fortune to sit there. If your own website doesn’t show up next to them, the guest books through them and you pay the commission.
Lots of guests would happily book direct. They often check the hotel’s own site first to see the rooms or look for a better rate. If your site is slow, hard to use on a phone or has no clear booking button, they go back to the booking site and finish there.
Winning more of those direct bookings comes down to a few things. Showing up in the map with great photos, a site that loads quickly and books easily, and pages that answer what travellers actually search for.
Guests search by reason to visit, not by hotel name. “Hotel near Anfield”, “places to stay for the Grand National”, “dog-friendly B&B Southport”, “wedding venue Wirral”. I’ll find the ones that fit your location and build pages to win them.
Hotels compete with the big booking sites for nearly every search, so your own site needs to give people a reason to book direct. Speed on a phone matters a lot here, which I cover in why a slow mobile site costs you customers. Reviews carry huge weight too, as I explain in why Google reviews matter. If you want to fill quiet dates quickly, my PPC campaigns page explains how ads can help.
More direct bookings, less commission.
A site that makes booking direct easy, with a clear reason to skip the middleman.
Pages about nearby attractions and events that bring in guests planning a trip.
Photos, amenities and reviews kept fresh so you look the part in the map.
Each room type with its own page, real photos and the details guests check before booking.
Function rooms and packages on pages of their own, because those are high-value searches.
Most travellers book on their phone. A slow site sends them straight back to the booking sites.
We have not looked back since hiring Pete and his team to create a new website for our business. He has gone above and beyond all my expectations. I can not thank them enough for the determination and effort they have put in to give us the best web design possible. We have also ask Pete to undertake the SEO side of things I could not of picked a better man for the job. I would highly recommend Pete Duffy to everyone.
People rarely search for a hotel name they don’t know. They search for “hotel near the stadium” or “places to stay for the races”. Pages built around those reasons to visit bring in guests the booking sites would otherwise grab.
Concerts, match days, conferences and graduations all bring waves of searches. A page ready before the date catches them.
How I’d win you more direct bookings.
Send me your hotel’s website. I’ll see where you show up and where the booking sites are beating you.
Speed, booking button, room pages and your Google listing. The things that stop guests leaving.
Event and local guide pages, fresh photos, more reviews and a monthly report on what moved.
Fill this in and I’ll take a careful look at your site and listing before I come back to you. No automated report and no sales pitch.

£125 a week, which is about £18 a day. That covers your SEO, Google listing, AI visibility and looking after your website.
Not necessarily. They bring visibility. The aim is to win more bookings direct so you’re less dependent on them.
Yes. Guests read them all. Keeping on top of reviews everywhere helps your Google listing too.
For broad searches, not often. For local and specific searches, and in the map, a well-run hotel site can absolutely show up alongside them.
It can. Some send guests off to a separate site. I’ll check yours and make sure Google still sees your own pages.
Yes, when it’s genuinely useful. A good guide to what’s nearby brings in people planning a trip and gives them a reason to stay with you.
Yes. Smaller places often do very well locally because their listing and reviews feel personal.
Fixes to your listing and booking button can help within weeks. Ranking for busier searches takes a few months.
Usually. If it’s on WordPress I can make the changes myself. If not, I’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth fixing or rebuilding.
